So, I usually keep my writing and librarianing separate (indeed, I’m required to by the librariany people) but for this, I’d like to crack the wall between the two.

The Art of Asking By Amanda Palmer is a brilliant book about how to communicate with fandoms. It’s fantastic for other reasons too, but in the Ars community we have been looking at ways to collaborate and call more people in, and she’s just brilliant at this.  The CD version’s better than the book if you like her music. If you are an Ars author and want to read a brilliant book about how social media driven art practice works…this is a that book.

  1. I agree this is a great book, although I’m still working my way through this. Had the great fortune of seeing Amanda play live with her husband Neil Gaiman when she dropped in for an encore at his performance of “The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains” with the Fourplay String Quartet in Melbourne last night.
He’s truly a master of storycraft! It was a wonderful night.
